So feel free to use whatever tomatoes you have available in abundance, but only the yellow heirlooms will produce the beautiful color, thin skin, and sweet, non-acidic flavor.

2 tsp. each granulated onion and sugar
3 C. or 1-28 oz can of tomato sauce (or 2-14.5 oz cans)
1/3 C. or ½-6oz can tomato paste
